1958 Topps Mickey Mantle Card

1958 Topps Mickey Mantle Card  The 1958 Mickey Mantle Topps card features a colorful head and shoulder shot of Mick. Again this year he appears on a second card with Hank Aaron. In that shot the two greats are facing one another bats poised. Mickey with his Yankee hat and Hank with his Milwaukee hat. The card is a World Series addition. In that same year there was an additional card that featured Mickey. The card was issued because of his selection as a Sports Magazine All-Star. The Card shows Mick in mid swing with stars illuminating the back.
After a few experiments with graphics and design, Topps returned to a simpler design for the 1958 series. Most cards featured a picture of the player on top of a brightly single colored, or as in the case of the Mantle all star card, a simple patterned background. Many have also said the layout and design of these cards is somehow very distinctly “Fifties” looking and that has added to its appeal and character. Mint-Near-Mint Topps 1958 Mickey Mantle cards have a book value of about $1,000.00. This price point makes them very accessible and affordable to the average collector.
The 1958 Topps series itself has some unique points of interest. This was the final series to feature a Ted Williams card, and the first to feature a Roger Maris card, and Stan Musial was on a card in the series for the first time in years.
