1961 Topps Mickey Mantle Baseball Card

Mickey Mantle had 3 cards in this set including #44 which was a multi-player American League Home Run Leaders card. He also had his regular issue players card #300 and his all star card #578 of course. The set was the first one to feature the popular MVP and the League Leader cards. The #475 Mantle card celebrates Mickey’s ’56 & ’57 AL MVP status.
The Mick’s cards from this series remain one of the most valuable cards from this series, largely because of the epic homerun derby race to beat babe ruth’s record that Mantle and Maris engaged in that season. Mantle also shared the spotlight with cards for : Hall of Famers Juan marichal #417, Ron Santo #35 and Billy Williams #141, there was also a valuable Roger Maris card #2, a Hank Aaron # 415, and a Warren Spahn card #200. Many fans have praised the bold design of this series and the large scale photos featured on them. The higher numbered cards 523-589 are the rarest to find and continue to hold the most value to collectors lucky enough to find them.
